BISMARCK, N.D. – Shopping malls are usually for shopping but this weekend, the play area at Bismarck’s Kirkwood Mall was filled with health-centered activities for kids and their families.
Children listened to stories, colored, and those who visited all the stations got to build their own MediBear. The Medibear program started in 1983 to give children a friend and help them understand their treatments during their hospital stay.
Parents say it’s a great way to teach kids about the importance of being healthy and exercising.
“It’s important for them to learn how to do like the exercises and learning the music and the moves and all that kind of stuff, just helps with motor development,” said Jaycee Riehl, Former Sanford Patient.
Families who attended also got to meet the Sanford pediatric team.
